About Food Producers of Idaho
Food Producers of Idaho (FPI) represents more than 40 farm, commodity, and agribusiness organizations across the state. We are a unified voice for Idaho agriculture, working to advance policies that support farmers, ranchers, and the broader food production industry.
FPI addresses key legislative and regulatory issues impacting agriculture through a structured, member-driven process. The organization follows established guidelines to determine when and how it takes positions on policy matters, ensuring that advocacy efforts reflect the collective interests of Idaho’s agricultural community.
During the legislative session, FPI meets weekly to review proposed legislation, engage with bill sponsors, and discuss policy positions that benefit Idaho agriculture. Special committees focus on critical issue areas, including:
Transportation
Labor
Water
Animal Issues
Industry Relations
To keep members and policymakers informed, FPI publishes the weekly "Green Sheet", which is a concise legislative tracking document that outlines:
Bills under consideration
A brief description of each issue
FPI’s position
The bill’s status in the legislative process
For tracked legislation, floor votes are also recorded for each legislator. These updates provide clear, consistent communication about where Idaho agriculture stands on key policy issues.
